Protecting Your Teen on their Internet Enabled Devices - Part 2 - TOOLS

In my last post I talked about how prevalent pornography can be and how we need to have loving continual conversations with our teens to help them honor God in this area.  You can read that by clicking HERE.

God's will for you and for your teen is that they would be set apart in their lives for Him and that they would avoid sexual immorality (1 Thes. 4:3). As a parent, it can be hard to lovingly do this.  Our jobs as parents don't get any easier because of the difficulty involved with monitoring electronic devices and their apps.  In this post, I want to share a few tools that I have come across that might really help you encourage your teen in the fight for their purity.

Tim Challies wrote an article this past fall that I found fascinating. He reviews a device that monitors your home web and app traffic.  It might be a great investment if you have kids that surf the internet.  I would encourage you to read the short article HERE. It could be a huge help for you and your family

For internet accountability features.  I use and recommend a program called Accountable2You.  It is one of the cheaper options ($4.99-$8.99 a month) on the market and it is well worth the investment.  If your teen ever starts to "click" down a wrong path, this program will give you real time text alerts to let you know what is going on.  You can setup up as many devices as you want under one account.  You can also setup as many accountability partners as you want.  This program is definitely worth checking out.

Another program I would recommend (but it is a bit more expensive - $9.99-$13.99 a month) is Covenant Eyes. This program is a bit more expensive than the other one ($9.99-$13.99 a month), but it offers not only accountability, but filtering as well. Check out the link to see if this option is better for you.
