We Apologize - No Video with this lesson
Have you ever wondered how certain things are made? Once you learn how something is made, you understand it better. When it comes to purity, we all have certain ideas and expectations of what it should—or shouldn’t—be about. But what if all those thoughts and ideas are actually missing the mark? In this series, as we take a look at God’s design for us, we’ll discover that there’s more to it than we think.
Some view sex as not a big deal, harmless fun, casual, and the church makes it a big deal...
The truth is sex is very powerful and we know this is true, even if we don’t recognize it.
What should we do with that power? 1 Corinthians 6:12-18
Vs. 12 - Just because we “can” do something, doesn’t mean we “should” do something.
Mishandling freedom actually leads to less freedom and less control
Whenever God says don’t - he is also saying “Don’t hurt yourself”
We become mastered by our desires instead of Trusting God with them by controlling them
Vs. 13-18 - Sex was made to matter
Your body is not for your personal pleasure, but for pleasing God
Sex deeply affects our emotions, heart, future, reputation, conscience, and more
God wants something better for us. He wants us to trust him with how we are made and experience the freedom he has for us
Remember the Pleasure Pain Principle - Every pleasure has a corresponding pain - Good Pleasure, the pain comes first and the pleasure second - Bad pleasure, the pleasure comes first and the pain comes second
The best possible way to experience that freedom later is to be responsible with the freedom you have now
Vs. 18-20 - Run from Hurtful, Run to Honor
Don’t let the urges master you, master then by trusting God with what he says.
Be Smart and put yourself in good situations, situations where you won’t be tempted
We honor God when we listen to him. His way brings more Joy!
Become overwhelmed by what Jesus has done for you!
Bottom Line: You were made to honor God with your bod.
There is Grace for all. In Jesus we are bought with a price to be forgiven. Ask and he freely forgives and gives new life!
